It’s a country music kind of day :)

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:16

My major is Spanish (even though that’s not official yet) and my minor is in recreation :)

Q
if a tree falls and no one's around to hear it, does it make a sound?
A

Haha, I wouldn’t know if it does or not because I wasn’t there ;)

To the drunks, the addicts, the perverts, the victims, the porn stars, the prostitutes, the adulterers, theives, the obese gluttons who think a waste is a terrible thing to mind, the Twilight fans, the murderers, the mommy’s boys, the losers, the freaks, the geeks, people who think wrestling is real, red necks, guys who own action figures, chain smokers, everyone who does not use a turn signal while texting and talking on the phone in their car, men who live with their mothers, women who get paid in dollar bills, dudes in dresses (seen it at Mars Hill), democrats, republicans, the guys at the gym who walk around the locker room naked singing Bon Jovi’s Living on a Prayer, mormons and anyone else who wears sacred under breeches, whoever is responsible for the creation and ongoing sale of men’s Lycra biking shorts… yoga instructors, witches, pot heads, meat heads, crack heads, dead heads and meth heads… people who don’t recycle, the rainbow-loving tree-hugging … lefters, and religious people who do not know what I am talking about because these subjects were not on The Little House on the Prairie or covered in their Home School co-op — I have good news for you: Jesus loves you. You’ll fit right in. And because He died for your sins, you get to repent.

Everyone in my life is either getting married or engaged in the next year

Me: What would Jesus do?
Joana: He'd give me a pedicure...

Turn away from evil and do good; so shall you dwell forever. For the Lord loves justice; he will not forsake his saints. They are preserved forever.

Q
What do you think of long distance relationships/online? (: thanks!
A

Long distance relationships are emotionally draining. They take a very serious commitment level since you’re not together much in person. You have to learn about the person through ”artificial communication” such as facebook/texting/skype etc. It’s hard to get to know their family and friends and vis versa. They tend to leave you torn between where you are physically and where your heart is. You end up missing out on a lot of your life because you’re focused on replying the text or staying home to skype instead of spending time with family and friends. As I said before, LDR’s are emotionally draining.

That being said, long distance relationships are totally possible! There are a lot of amazing things about being in an LDR. You learn to love the person not because of how they look or act, but because of their personality and character. You fall in love with them instead of their superficial exterior :) There’s such a strong tie of commitment and genuine love. And when you finally are together, it is truly wonderful!

Long distance relationships really come down to your commitment level. They take a lot of trust; a lot of love; and, most importantly, a lot of prayer. Not to sound too cliche, but the only way you can survive one is by relying on God. Not just on your own, but together as a couple. Seek God on a daily basis- together!

I hope this helps! If you have anymore questions or just want to talk, I’m here :)

Love in Christ,

standingfast:

I just have to say you certainly have brightened my view on the catholic curch, Im an atheist and I try to see what people find in faith and where they stand when confronted by modern truths and science, so far you certainly have provided the most inteligent answers, and you have made me think of catholics in a new light. I would just like to ask, why do you need god in your lives? Im just asking out of curiosity, I´ve heard many different answers, and I find them all very interesting :)

Thank you so much for your encouragement! It really means a lot :)

On a practical level, I believe that God has created my body and everything in it to be able to function properly. He’s the one that enables my heart to pump blood, my mind to process thoughts and emotions, my lungs to inhale and exhale air, my muscles to move in a smooth and coordinated function, etc. I believe that God keeps me running :) Thus I really need Him!

God is also my emotional sustainer. He gives me peace in times of trouble and joy in situations where no joy can be found. For instance, my mother battled breast cancer when I was 16. Being a 16 year old female is trying enough, but when you add in the fact that my mother and closest friend was going through such a hard time I went crazy. I tried making it through that time without God; I really tried. But I honestly couldn’t. The Lord gave me strength, peace, and even joy through that terrible year of my life.

God is also my Savior and Redeemer. By sending His son, Jesus, to die on the cross, God has paid for and forgiven my sins. I am a new creation in Him! In 2 Corinthians 5:17-21, it says:

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

That is exactly how I feel. Since this is such a hard concept to explain, if you want want to know more about it, don’t hesitate to ask!

Finally, the Bible describes God as “the Pearl of greatest price.” In other words, the Lord is telling us “I’m the greatest good you ever gonna get” (insert Honey- from the Incredibles- voice :p) Since God is so incredibly and indescribably awesome (in the truest sense of the word) why wouldn’t I want to know Him? He is giving us the change of a life time, quite litterally, by opening up His arms to us and letting is run to Him and call Him Father! His grace is irresistibly appealing!

This is why I personally need God. I’m sure every contributor on here would add something, or give you a different answer. But these are simply my reasons! Let me know if you have any questions! :)

Is any pleasure on earth as great as a circle of Christian friends by a good fire?

Nevertheless, I still belong to You; You hold my right hand. You guide me with Your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny. Whom have I in heaven but You? I desire You more than anything on earth. My health and flesh may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is forever mine.
